I’m so excited to share Nicoles birthday reveal! It’s was nothing less than perfect! Her 20th birthday party which I was planning for weeks was the first time I’d ever been so detailed in planning an event. I had a vision in my head but executing it would be the challenge. I knew Nicole would love the glam vibe and finding her favorite desserts along with a theme she’d love was the easy part. It was getting down to all the tiny details that really took alot of thought. In the end I’m so impressed with how everything turned out and happy she had her special day.
I’m sure you can tell the theme was Kate Spade inspired and I wanted to make sure it would all resonate around Nicole and her big 2 0! After all she wasn’t a teen anymore and we had to celebrate in style.
To begin the invitations had to set the tone for the intimate gathering I was hosting. Jessica from Jessicas Paper Craft brought my vision to life and added her sparkle and creativeness to the invites! I was so pleased with how they turned out. I especially love her paper crafting. I know it’s easy to get printed ones but having something paper crafted by hand was really the touch I was going for and these were fabulous! You guys have to check her out as she makes custom cards as well!
Our table was decked out with beautiful plating and I wanted a contrast of colors along with my red, hot pink, gold, black and white color palatte.
Our lovely party favors and super cute straws were made by Amy from HellaCrafty415 who is just as crafty as her name sounds! The straws and boxes were custom made to fit the theme along with beautiful hand lettering for each guests name. The favors worked as a dual for place cards as well which I thought was neat!
In my opinion the walls are just as important as what goes on the table so when I though up the decor I new I wanted 3 things. Paper flowers, balloons and gold polka dots!
The gorgeous paper flowers that you see above the dessert table are by Gareth Belle Flowers. They are high quality paper flowers with attention to the smallest detail! I only had 6 which goes to show that it’s not how many you have but how you place them that creates the overall look. I couldn’t have loved them more and the best part is I can reuse them to decorate the girls room or another party!
Time for sweets
We ended up going with desserts like vanilla cupcakes and a red velvet cake beautifully made by AA Sweets and Backdrops. Red velvet is my sisters favorite so that was a no brainer it was the cake topper that would make or break the cake theme and it had to be perfect! For that specific deed Notable Creations stepped in to custom make this beautiful glitter cake topper along with the ‘Hello Gorgeous’ cupcake toppers that really set the mood for the dessert table! Like I said it’s all in the details and I new this would really make the cake stand out. Plus ‘20 years blessed’ became our motto for the party which was pretty cool. I also got custom macaroons from BT Macs who I must pause to rave about how good they were! Ridiculous can’t sum it up and if I sound like I’m exaggerating I’m not! Trust me, I’ve never had a better macaroon in my life! If something tasted as pretty as it looked this was one of those things!
The pretty desserts didn’t stop there. I was excited for our custom cookies by Cookhia who is known for her detailed and masterful creations. If you’re wondering yes all these bakers are local to me but some of them deliver. 😉
Candy dipped apples made by our dear friend Emelim drizzled in pink chocolate were delicious and although we didn’t have a mountain of sweets as I’ve seen in other dessert tables we had more than enough!
For food I ended up going with Chinese take out from my favorite local restaurant Madarin House. My sister and I love Chinese food so it was nice that I didn’t have to cook, after all I was a busy host!
Games and tiny details
I customized some games with my savy graphic creating skills which I feel added a personal fun touch to Nicoles day. I also thought little things like the sequin napkins, mini Voss waters and mini Martinelli apple ciders added simple yet elegant touches to the table set up. Our balloon wall served as our photo booth which was the intention and even though I live in a small apartment I managed to utilize my space by moving my couches (thank you husband) and reorganizing furniture to create what felt like a new space.
I’m so happy my sissy will now have this glam birthday to remember and now I have no idea how I’ll out do this next year but one things for sure, I caught the party throwing bug and I’m already planning my next one!
