So wow! This took me a good two weeks to get done from start to finish but I present to you my Pretty n Pink balcony. I've lived in this apartment for a few years and I can't believe I never used my balcony. It truly is sad and for you ladies who want big possibilities with little investment, I bring you princess on budget. I didn't want to spend a lot but I wanted to make it "feel" like I did lol and this awesome new app called, "Offer Up" which is kind of like a better version of Craigslist helped me out with that. I was looking for a cute bistro and to my surprise used bistros start at $100. I finally found this little run down bistro that needed a lot of TLC. It was rusted, dirty and really just sad but I saw potential and picked it up for $30! Then the real work began. I started sanding and cleaning then painted it with Rustoleum Rusty Metal Primer to help seal the rust and use as a primer base. I got to spray painting with Krylon spray paint in white gloss. Then came the chairs. I was going to reupholster the chairs but I thought why not try and spray paint that too? It couldn't hurt and I honestly can't believe it worked! I used Krylon Ballet Pink in Satin for that soft pink color you see in the photos. You can clearly see in my before and after pic below that my bistro alone was a huge transformation. It doesn't even look like the same one! I also picked up a small plastic bench for $10 from Offer Up as well and gave it a new coat of paint plus a little paint job on the roses with some acrylic paints from Walmart. Finally now that I had my most important pieces I began to look for the perfect outdoor rug and pillows. Some of these items can be pricey and I was only $50 deep with all I had spent so far so I was able to splurge on a rug and pillows without feeling guilty. I wanted something pink, cute, girlie and made for the outdoors so I wouldn't have to worry about the weather. I found the perfect items at target.com for the exact rug click here and since Target no longer has the pillows here is another site with the same exact ones.
The little table you see in the corner was actually yellow and I found it on sale at Hobby Lobby for $12! Painted that pink as well and then I was left with just small decorations to add. I purchased silk flowers from Offer Up as well. I spent a total of $14 on all of the ones you see and I used a spaghetti sauce jar to hold my flowers on the table. Just a good wash, little bit of silver spray paint and voila! The serving tray I already had from Marshalls which I purchased a while back and spray painted that too lol. I will say if you decide to take on such a task be ready to get messy and have paint all over your nails. The process was not glamorous but the results totally are, and for the $170 price tag this was definitely not bad at all! I decided I'd be doing some more home projects since I obviously have a knack for it haha so those will be coming up soon. I hope this post can inspire a new project for yourself as well because you can be a princess and still be on a budget.
Cheers to us savy savers!
